Google has expanded the reach of its Sound Amplifier accessibility tool beyond Android 9.0 Pie, the company revealed on Wednesday.
Sound Amplifier is desgined to assist users who have trouble hearing, and now users on Android 6.0 Marshmellow and upwards can use the tool to help them hear sounds better.

“When you plug in your headphones and use Sound Amplifier, you can customize frequencies to augment important sound, like the voices of the people you are with, and filter out background noise,” Google explained on its blog.
The tool also notifies users when a sound is being enhanced, and users can now access Sound Amplifier from their home screens.
Google first released Sound Amplifier in February, along with a beta of its own transcribing tool.
