WhatsApp is developing a new “Quick Edit” tool for tweaking pictures within chats, WABetaInfo revealed on Thursday.
The Quick Edit tool will allow users to crop and draw on photos they receive inside a chat or group, removing the need to edit outside of the chat before re-sending.

The incoming feature is reminiscent of WhatsApp Status’ editing tools, allowing users to write on images with the colour of their choice, or insert captions. After editing is complete, users can then send the image directly to their contacts.
Based on the video showcasing the tool, there doesn’t seem to be any plans to include Instagram’s filters or other editing features.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently being tested on both Android and iOS.
