Jane Manchun Wong is at it again. After leaking Twitter’s upcoming Snooze button, the feature leaker on Tuesday revealed that Facebook is working on a dark mode for its mobile app.
“I came across this unreleased Dark Mode in Facebook’s mobile app for Android by looking into the code underneath, which indicates Facebook has recently started implementing the long-awaited Dark Mode into their mobile app,” noted Wong on her blog.

The dark mode, which strangely enough still features a lot of white background, is still in its prototype phase, but it’s promising.

Facebook’s new redesign is incredibly bright, employing lots of bright blue and piercing white. A dark mode will make it more tolerable for use at night, or in lower light settings.
It’s not clear when Facebook’s dark reskin will be available to the public, but it’s a promising development.
Now that WhatsApp’s also set to receive a dark mode, and Messenger already has one, that just leaves Instagram.
