It’s now condensing the current “public”, “secret” and “closed” options into “public” and “private”.

“Having two privacy settings — public and private — will help make it clearer about who can find the group and see the members and posts that are part of it,” Facebook said in a blog post.
The company further outlined that public groups are open for viewing from everyone in the Facebook community, while details and posts from private groups can only be seen by members.
Group admins also have more tools, and will now be able to “clearly choose whether or not the group can be found in search and other places”.
With this, the social network also noted its Safe Communities Initiative for groups, which monitor both private and public groups for violating policies.
The move comes after Facebook tweaked its Page settings in January, to hold page creators more accountable.
Admins can access the new privacy controls in Group Settings.
