Google’s Area 120 is testing a new crowdfunding app called Fundo to help connect YouTubers with their audience through paid events, a report by Variety revealed last week.
The app gives Youtube creators a platform to invite their audience to online events, such as meet and greets or live streams.

“Like other projects within Area 120, it’s a very early experiment so there aren’t many details to share right now,” a Google spokesperson reportedly told the publication, confirming that the app is aimed at creating “engagement and monetization” for YouTubers.
Currently, potential users have to request an invitation on Fundo’s rather bare website for access to the app.
Variety noted that a number of popular YouTubers have already used Fundo to sell personalized shoutouts and one-on-one video calls.
It is likely that YouTubers have to have a substantial following to be invited onto Fundo.
Last month, Google’s Area 120 also launched Shoelace, a social networking service that connects people to events according to their interests.
