Huawei could showcase its Hongmeng OS as early as this week, a report by Global Times revealed on Sunday.
A source told the Global Times that the company will debut the OS, originally said to be created as an Android competitor, running on a $300 smartphone.

According to the publication, the Android-alternative OS will be aimed at low and medium range Huawei devices “to attract as many developers as they can to build an ecosystem”, and will make its debut on Honor smart TVs in August.
Last month, Huawei’s Ren Zhengfei boasted about Hongmeng’s speed, suggesting it will operate on autonomous driving cars and smart home products as well.
It is believed that the OS will be revealed at Huawei’s Developer Conference in China on 9 August.
