Mozilla on Tuesday officially launched the Firefox Private Network, its own built-in VPN, as part of the Firefox Test Pilot programme.
The company first mentioned the VPN in October last year, and now users who have signed up to test its programmes can try the service out in their browser.

“The Firefox Private Network is an extension which provides a secure, encrypted path to the web to protect your connection and your personal information anywhere and everywhere you use your Firefox browser,” Mozilla explained on its blog.
Some of the VPN’s key features include added protection for public Wi-Fi network connections, hidden IP addresses and a simple tool to switch the service on and off when browsing.
“Over the next several months you will see a number of variations on our testing of the Firefox Private Network,” the company further noted.
Mozilla users in the United States can sign up for a Firefox account to test the Firefox Private Network.
