Google’s YouTube Music is taking more inspiration from Spotify and Apple Music’s features.
This weekend a new feature was spotted by 9to5Google called “Discover Mix”. If you’ve ever used Spotify before, you’d probably think it sounds familiar to “New Music Friday”, the Scandinavian streaming company’s playlist that suggests new music every seven days.

YouTube Music’s Discover Mix does something similar. The playlist is 49-tracks long, and is updated every Wednesday.
It seems that only a handful of users has the new playlist, and for those who do have it, it’s located in a new section entirely.
“It showed up on a new shelf labelled ‘Mixed for You’ which also included the ‘New Release Mix’ and the ‘Liked Songs’ playlists. The description says it updates every Wednesday,” said Reddit user u/skipp_bayless.
“The song selection also was a range of genres I have been recently listening to as well as some styles I haven’t listened to in a while. It was nice rediscovering certain things I haven’t thought about in a while.”
It’s not clear when the playlist will roll out to all YouTube Music users.
