To accommodate Sony’s new 360 Reality Audio format, Deezer on Monday revealed a new standalone app called 360 by Deezer exclusively for Deezer HiFi subscribers.
The new app will allow subscribers to listen to music in the “immersive” audio format, which creates the illusion of 360 audio through headphones.

“360 Reality Audio can be enjoyed with most headphones and is optimized for Sony’s range of headsets,” Deezer said on its website.
According to the company, the app is supported on both iOS and Android.
“Audio may not be optimal on Android phones with CPU speed lower than 1.43GHz, which could result in ‘sound drop’ or skipping,” the company further noted.
Deezer also noted that favourited songs on the platform’s main app will automatically appear in 360 if the songs are available in 360 Reality Audio.
“The catalogue will continue to grow as more tracks are remastered by the music labels and added,” the company explained.
In partnership with Sony, Deezer will also offer a three-month free subscription to Deezer HiFi for those who purchase Sony headphones.
360 by Deezer is currently available to download for Android Lollipop and above on Google Play, and iOS 11 or later on the App Store.
