A report by Deadline on Tuesday revealed that HBO has cancelled its first Game of Thrones spinoff series starring Naomi Watts.
According to the publication, the show was meant to take place thousands of years before Game of Thrones’s events but was cancelled after several production issues with the pilot episode.

Though the news is a blow to Thrones fans, who said goodbye to the original series early this year, the franchise still has several more spinoffs in the works.
In fact, amidst its HBO Max announcement on Tuesday, WarnerMedia confirmed production of the next Game of Thrones series titled House of the Dragon.
“Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, which is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen,” the company said in a press release.
The new series, directed by Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Conda, will feature 10 episodes co-produced by Thrones author George R.R. Martin.
House of the Dragon will likely launch on the upcoming HBO Max streaming service.
