It’s the third time South Africa has claimed the trophy and the first time since the 2007 tournament, when South Africa also beat England to lift the Webb Ellis Cup.

The win also comes after the disappointment of the 2015 tournament, when the team finished third.

Understandably, the country erupted with joy and excitement online after the match.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, who is in Yokohama, led the cheers.

Others joined in soon after the final whistle.
