After rolling out Face and Touch ID on WhatsApp for iOS back in February, WhatsApp on Thursday announced that Fingerprint Lock will now be available on Android as well.
This means that Android users can now secure their WhatsApp messages using their phone’s fingerprint sensor.

“To enable it, tap Settings > Account > Privacy > Fingerprint lock. Turn on ‘Unlock with fingerprint’, and confirm your fingerprint,” the company explained in a blog post.
Users can also choose if the feature is enabled immediately after closing WhatsApp, or after one or 30 minutes of inactivity.
The update comes after WABetaInfo first spotted the feature in beta earlier this year.
Fingerprint unlock is currently available on the latest version of WhatsApp for Android.
