Facebook on Monday revealed that it’s testing a new “photo transfer tool”, which will allow users to send their Facebook photos and videos to other platforms.

This means that users will soon be able to back-up their Facebook photos by copying them to services like Google Photos.

“People can access this new tool in Facebook settings within Your Facebook Information, the same place where you can download your information,” said Facebook.

According to the company, the tool is currently being tested in Ireland, but a global rollout is set for 2020.

The tool is part of Facebook’s efforts to create a more privacy-focused social media experience for users.

In October, the company also launched new policies surrounding inauthentic behaviour and the spread of misinformation on its platforms.
