Twitter mocks Queen Elizabeth II’s fake news death rumours

Queen Elizabeth II death

Thanks to fake news, Twitter on Monday exploded with reports of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

According to a report by Perth Now, the rumour began to trend after a screenshot emerged on Twitter claiming that the British monarch had suffered a fatal heart attack.

Royal Central’s Chief Editor, Charlie Proctor, however, dispelled the reports and announced that the Queen is perfectly fine.

“The Queen is not dead. She is alive & well and is very much looking forward to hosting President Trump and other world leaders at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday for the NATO reception,” he said in a tweet.

With confirmation that the Queen is, in fact, alive, the rumour instead turned into a running joke on Twitter.

Some also took the opportunity to consider how other royals might react to the Queen’s death.

While others poked fun at the monarch’s rather long life.
