Images. Too many great images amongst the almost-rans – and so much work to sort them on the road. Unless you have an iPad with the Camera Connection Kit. My husband and I recently packed our bags and headed for a wine route. We took the scenic Cape Route 62 that meanders up the east coast interior, a soul-feeding alternative to the tedious N2 highway. It’s a wonderful road trip offering endless photo opportunities – and all the problems that go with storing, managing and sharing all the images.
In the past, I’ve just taken a lot of pictures which means needing several SD cards, and then gone through them all when I got home. Just before this trip, I purchased the iPad Camera Connection Kit.

Sharing is caring
It also made sharing pictures via Facebook and Picasa much easier. Being able to share the pictures and experience so quickly with friends made the trip a lot more special. And being able to update my blog every night with the day’s pictures ensured that I could share every detail before it slipped through the cracks.
Because my pics were taken off my SD card every night, I only had to use one SD card the entire trip.
Give the iPad a USB port
The Camera Connector has more uses than just uploading photos to your iPad: you can also connect a USB keyboard to your device via the USB slot in the adaptor. In fact – you can connect loads of USB devices. Who would have thought that a USB connector would be useful on a tablet?
You can plug compatible USB headsets right into the USB port your iPad now sports. The iPad might think a minute, but after a short time you should be able to use your headset to listen to music or videos playing on the iPad. A USB headset with a good microphone makes applications like Skype perform better as audio quality is often dramatically better than that achieved with the iPad’s built-in microphone.
When you attach one of these audio devices, you can use your iPad just as you normally would without having to worry about configuring any audio settings. The iPad will automatically take the audio input from the connected device.
I love this device and recommend that you slip one into your bag before you set off for your Christmas holiday.
