Dynamite comes in tiny, chocolate sized packages with the advent of the Logitech Cube. Scepticism be damned, the Cube is a mouse cum presenter. As a mouse, it fits snugly in the palm of your hand. Lift it off the surface and it changes to presenter mode.

The Cube is an optical mouse, with the scrolling wheel removed. Navigating a page involves running your finger up or down the rippled surface of the Cube. According to Logitech, the Cube is small enough to fit in your pocket and ideal for meetings.
Todd Walker, Logitech Brand manager explains further, “With its sleek design, the Logitech Cube catches your eye immediately. But it doesn’t stop with distinctive design. The Cube has just the right set of features, whether you’re working through an international flight or making a critical presentation – all in a beautiful tiny package.”
No specifications regarding the projected video size have been released, but what hardware is known is the standard 2.4Ghz (wireless) connectivity, compatibility with the Unifying receiver, and a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
The Cube is not always on and to save power, the on/off switch hides on the rear of the mouse, alongside the micro-USB port which stores the Unifying receiver. The Unifying receiver lets six other compatible Logitech devices connect to the same computer.
Most interesting are the swipe gestures, courtesy of Logitech’s Flow Scroll software. Flow Scroll emulates the feel of a touchscreen interface in that scrolling becomes fluid, with Logitech saying that the screen movement is smoother than traditional wheel movement.
The Logitech Cube can be pre-ordered right now, and will be available to buy later in January. The cost of the world’s first presenter slash mouse? Yours for US$70.
