Emerging markets mobile giant Vodacom today announced the launch of smartphones for the visually impaired in its South African market. These will include the Nokia C6 Zoom, Nokia E6 and Nokia C6 Speaking.
The C6 and E6 will feature Talks software, which allows the phone to be accessible to visually impaired customers. This software translates text into speech, allowing the visually impaired to access data on their phone that was previously inaccessible, like creating text messages, emails and contacts, editing contacts, and checking battery and signal strength. The phones also QWERTY keyboards, for legacy sakes.

The C6 Zooms phone has software that magnifies font sizes and graphics up to 16 times, allowing customers with poor vision to access their phone with greater ease.
