Android based Pocket TV brings the smart

Is your TV stupid? Infinitec, a Dubai based company, thinks so. That’s why it has released a new Android powered micro-processor in dongle form which plugs into your TV to boost its intelligence.

It’s called Pocket TV, and it combines what you most want out of a smartphone (minus the camera and phone of course) and makes it accessable through your TV. Basically making your TV a giant computer with mini processor capabilities.

It’s got Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 1GHz ARM processor and 1GB RAM. Inside it has 4GB of internal storage space, with the option of connecting a MicroSD card of up to 32GB. Connectivity comes in the form of a 1.3 HDMI cable that cranks out a 1080p resolution. And to the invisible world, it connects via bluetooth and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.

As for storage, it comes with a USB 2.0 input on the side so you can plug in any of your other electronic devices including an external hard drive so you can watch all your pirated/legal goodies. If that’s not enough, then the Google Play Store is also available to browse through.

There are two options, both with remotes, but the more expensive one comes with a QWERTY keyboarded remote with a gyroscopic sensor. This allows you to move the cursor around the screen and also play the games that a touch screen is necessary for. Prices start at US$110 for the cheaper IR remote model and US$135 for the Air Remote model.

I think it’s about time that someone made this. Screens in general are becoming so interconnected, that such a little device like this is fantastic to transform your biggest screen into a usable interactive device, instead of the brain-frying one-directional pseudo-information box of mediated media.

If only someone made a human version of this: eat this and any normal human can become a smart human. Can you imagine? Maybe for the future, or movies like Limitless.
