China snags New iPad 20 July

China’s getting the new iPad on 20 July. The fruit company which doesn’t make fruit has decided to quickly launch the new iPad in China after it won (by paying US$60-mil) a legal battle the name “iPad” which another company had contested.

The wonder pad launched in March in the US. Price-wise, the new iPad will come in at the same cost of the iPad 2, which is US$499 (16GB, Wi-Fi) or if you’re feeling rich, US$829 for the 3G rocking, 64GB-crunching model. Deep pockets only though.

China has five offical Apple stores where the new iPad will be on sale. But knowing this country, there’s gonna be a slew of knock-offs to counter the official product. Apple also plans to hectically limit the reservation window for new iPads, to between 9am and 12 noon. Is this to keep the new iPad in limited circulation and outta the hands of the cloning lords? We’d like to think so.
