China has developed a microbot that runs across the surface of water and is creepy enough to make you rethink jumping in that lake.

Remember being a kid and swimming in the dam next to your house? Remember those creepy insects that would run across the surface of the water? Well, China’s School of Chemical Engineering and Technology has developed a microbot inspired by those insects.
The microbot weights just 11 grams and can jump on top of water. This is thanks to the foam coating that is highly water repellant, which keeps it afloat for every 14cm stride that it makes. Could you imagine a swarm of these things, all jumping across your local dam hangout? They’d probably have super secret cameras for “recreational purposes”.
Hopefully further development will allow humans to enjoy these crazy skills. That’d be really cool. Running on water screaming, “Where are your gods now!?”
