Google and Amazon are pairing up to release an Android smartphone, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.
Working hand in hand with Amazon is the notorious Foxconn, otherwise known as that company with the bizarrely high suicide rate. Want details of the Amazon Android phone? Tough, there are none. This is leaked information at the very highest level, but let’s pretend that the phone will be a tiny version of the Kindle Fire, Amazon’s fairly successful 7-inch tablet.

The version of Android running on the Kindle Fire is heavily modified, so let’s go right ahead and assume that it’ll have the same slick, streamlined interface of the Fire. According to the report, Amazon is keen to “carve out a slice of the market for advanced wireless handsets.” No time like the present. Look forward to more news, and hopefully some specs, coming soon.
