It’s IFA season and the prettiest flower has just bloomed. Samsung revealed the ATIV S, and the world looked on at its first Windows 8 Phone. Here’s what we know:

Windows says “The ATIV S is a superphone that’s equal parts powerhouse and head turner.” Superphone? Why not. The specs alone make our brains bleed blood. Samsung pretty much has the market cornered when it comes to Super-AMOLED displays and the 4.8-inch HD screen is no exception. Combine this with 1GB RAM, a 1.5Ghz Dual-core CPU, two cameras (8MP back, 1.9MP Front), 16 or 32GB of internal memory and wrap it up in a 8.7mm thin aluminum case for a cold, hard Windows Phone 8 extravaganza.
And the battery, oh the 2300mAh battery. Its 200mAh greater than the Galaxy S III’s even. A smartphone that lasts all day and more? Say it ain’t so.
We love the physical Windows button plonked on the bottom of the ATIV S. It’s not only a touchstone for Windows users, but quick and painless access to the main menu.
The look and feel of the ATIV S has been described as “impossibly thin”, and “extremely comfortable to hold”. From the images, we can see that the phone bulges at the back much like the S III, but is slightly thicker than Samsung’s current king of the mobile-everything devices. Finally, the device is said to be perfectly balanced in the hand. Most of us get phone-fatigue, so if the ATIV S can pull off that magic combo between weight and functionality, we’ll be eating out of Samsung’s hand for months to come. Think of how the iPhone feels like a dead weight in the hand during extended use. That’s right, the ATIV S is having none of that.
Enough blather, it’s picture time.
