Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 UI on Youtube and confirmed August release

Amidst all the court drama going on between Samsung and Apple, Samsung is being a bit cheeky and releasing its new Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, the successor to the one that Apple is trying to kill.

Samsung has released a video on Youtube showing the user interface and a new stilus, called the S Pen, that is being punted heavily. The new Note seems to be mainly for lifestyle purposes; the video shows much cutting and pasting, highlighting university papers, making recipes and the like. The pen seems to work quite well too.

Samsung has confirmed that the release of its new tablet will be sometime this month, with 3G and WiFi versions available from the get-go and LTE version later in the year.

The new Note will get a quad-core 1.4GHz processor with 2GB of RAM running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung’s own tweeks to keep it original. Disappointingly, though, the display will only be 1280×800. That’s not a lot for its 10.1 inches. Samsung isn’t really keeping up with the pack there.

At least it keeps up, if not dominates, the workability factor of a tablet. The video shows quite a lot of neat features that are available to the Note, especially the notes. If the Note actually processes everything as fast as the video shows or works as smoothly is yet to be seen. The interface does look great though, and very usable.

But can someone please change that awful music? Samsung just doesn’t have good taste in music.
