This will have the Apple faithful alternatively frothing at the mouth or sighing in resignation. The Cupertino-based giant will roll out its smaller 19-pin dock connector across al devices running iOS.
According to specialist site iMore, the devices that’ll get the new connectors include new versions of the iPod nano, the 9.7-inch iPad, and rumoured iPad mini as well as the iPhone 5.

Updating the whole range also makes sense given Apple’s proclivity for keeping things uniform. Using it only for the iPhone 5 would just jar. Even in a post Steve Jobs Apple, that’s difficult to imagine.
A part of me thinks it’s about time Apple updated its dock connector. The rest of the world’s transition to Micro-USB has, after all, been relatively painless.
Another, slightly more cynical part, thinks it’s a great financial move. Apple definitely knows its fan base and there’s a core group of them that will upgrade every single one of their iDevices just because there’s a new one out.
That’s a fairly risky gamble, but when you’re the biggest tech company on the planet, you can afford to bet big on red every now and then.
