Created by The Impossible Project, Impossible Instant Lab burns with potential. Open the app, prepare the image, dock the iPhone into the IIL cradle, slide open the shutter, wait for the signal, close the shutter, push a button and behold, instant Polaroid. Here’s what it looks like:
The boffins of Impossible Project actually brought the last Polaroid factory in existence “to save instant film for the future”.
Design is retro-gold. It is a Polaroid camera, minus the fiddly photo-taking parts. The device concertinas upwards, creating an iPhone/Polaroid pyramid of power. When finished creating memories, fold the tower down and be on your merry way. There’s an Android version in the works, but only once Impossible Project has gathered enough votes from the Google-hungry public.
So there are a few options for the eager Kickstarter investor. The IIL costs US$149 for the basic silver edition with a film voucher. This rockets to a faintly ridiculous price of US$2 000 for the gold edition IIL, limited to ten units only. Get saving. The ILL has under a month to go to reach it’s funding goal of US$250 000, but with US$182 536 already funded, this happy-snapper will quickly make its way into reality.
