Amazon discontinue Kindle Touch in favour of Paperwhite

Amazon‘s E-reader culling initiative has claimed its latest victim. Gizmodo reports the online internet retailer will be discontinuing the production and sale of its Kindle Touch device.

This follows the recent discontinuation of its larger-screened Kindle DLX last week.

The Touch, which retailed for US$99, has been removed from the Kindle product lineup, making way for the US$119 Paperwhite, which made its debut on 1 October.

The Kindle Touch is unavailable on Amazon’s website, with a link to the new Paperwhite in its place.

This development has left users frustrated as shipping delays push delivery for the Paperwhite anywhere between four to six weeks, leaving anxious customers in the lurch.
