Although Google’s Android event, scheduled for 29 October, had to be cancelled due to “force majeure“, it did not stop Huawei from unveiling its new smartphone, the Honor 2.

This latest offering serves up a 4.5-inch HD touch display at an impressive 326PPI, as close as you can get to Retina Display quality. The Honor 2 is powered by Huawei‘s own K3V2 1.4 Ghz quad-core processor, which is disappointingly supported by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Upgrading to Jellybean will definitely be the first order of business after purchase.
As far as storage capacity goes, the Honor 2 packs a decent 8GB of on-board memory, with a MicroSD slot for storage expansion. It only has 1GB RAM, Huawei will however release a 2GB version for a limited time. The Honor 2 has also been fitted with a 8MP camera in the rear and 1.3MP camera in front.
Boasting a reported 72 hours of standby time and set to retail for US$320 the Honor 2 will not blow the smartphone race wide open, but should offer consumers an interesting device to consider.
