There’s nothing wrong with the Nexus 7, we said as much in our review. So a Nexus 10 would be… three levels better then the Nexus 7? Plus, it’s being pumped out by Samsung this time.
The specs
Thanks to internal reports from people close to the source, we know a fair bit about the hardware specs of the Nexus 10.
First up, the screen is going to be legendary. A 10-incher with a 2560×1600 resolution? That’s very iPad 3 of you sir.
Next, the CPU. It’s an Exynos 5 Cortex A15 processor and a damn fine piece of tech it is. Here’s everything the new chipset can offer:
- Dual-core 1.7 Ghz Cortex A15 CPU
- Mali T604 GPU
- OpenGL ES 3.0
- OpenCL 1.1 full profile
- Support for WXQGA displays
- Wi-Fi display support
- 12.8 GB/s memory bandwidth with 2 port 800 Mhz LPDDR3 RAM support
- 1080p 60 FPS video performance and VP8 codec decoder
- USB 3.0 support
Definitely nothing to sneeze at. Finally, the Nexus 10 will have 2GB RAM. That’s not a future proof number, but a great start and a sign of how desperately we need RAM-heavy tablets. Just to compare Apples to Nexus’, the iPad 3 has 1GB RAM. Oh and let’s throw in Android 4.1 as the OS.
And it’s all coming next year. According to sources, first quarter of 2013. We’ll be waiting.
