Sina Weibo, the Chinese microblogging site, has sparked rumours of a new Windows Phone, after the marketing chief of ZTE, Lu Qian Hao, posted a picture of a not-seen-before handset with the Windows Phone logo on it, and tweeting some specs that it sports a full HD 5.9-inch display, 1920 x 1080 resolution and DTS audio technology.

Those kind of specs are not middle of the range for a smartphone, putting this rumour solidly in the flagship model area. As rumours go, there are always some things to consider, such as that Microsoft has not indicated yet that full HD is supported in its new Windows Phone software. So this rumour is stuck between the Windows 7 logo on the back of the supposed new phone, and the tweets of the specs. Nothing like creating a bit of mystery to fuel rumours…
According to cnbeta (translated), ZTE Corporation chief technology officer Kan Yu Lun has said that ZTE will be launching a Windows Phone 8 system in the second quarter of 2013, but it looks to be accelerated with the tweet of this mysterious handset. ZTE, a Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment and systems company, is the world’s fourth-largest mobile phone manufacturer measured by 2011 unit sales, and the world’s fifth-largest telecoms equipment maker.
