Back in January 2013, Gearburn reported on the LG Optimus G Pro with specs that made us sit up straight and take notice. LG has now finally unveiled this potential Galaxy Note II killer, with all the rumoured specs front and present. The device goes on sale this week in Korea, with a release later in Q2 for North America, Japan and other markets, according to the LG Newsroom (translated).

At first glance it look much like its predecessor — the Optimus G — yet the bigger 5.5 inch HD IPS display, a collaboration between LG Electronics and LG Display, packs twice as many pixels as a normal HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 400 ppi. Powering that many pixels will be a 3 140mAh battery, the largest in its class, with support for wireless charging that will “allow for full HD viewing enjoyment for hours on end”.
A 1 .7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU coupled with 2GB DDR memory should ensure smooth operation. The internal memory will consist of 32GB with the added ability to expand via a 32GB via microSD card and predictably, the phablet will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. A rear 13-megapixel camera with LED flash pairs up with and a 2.1 megapixel front facing shooter. According to The Next Web, LG has a few dedicated features on the phone, with one that will allow a user to record video with both cameras simultaneously, creating 360 degree images and video.
The device will go on sale in Korea this Wednesday via SK Telecom, and will sell for around US$900.
