We’ve known about the existence of an “R” series BlackBerry device for a little while now, but new leaks throw weight behind the idea that it will be a budget version of the Q10.
If the leaks, which come care of DGtle (translated) are to be believed, the Qwerty device will pack a 720X720 3.1-inch screen and 2GB of RAM, just like its sibling.

Among the features which have been downsized are the camera (down to 5MP), the internal storage (8GB) and battery (down to 1 800mAh). In a move that might confuse die-hard BlackBerry fans, the battery also won’t be removable.
As Engadget notes however, we won’t know for sure what the R10 will be packing until BlackBerry actually unveils it. That could well happen at next week’s BlackBerry Live conference, so we won’t be left waiting long to find out more about the Q10’s little brother.
If the leaks are correct though and the R10 ships at a decent price, then it could do well in emerging markets, which have become a stronghold for the Waterloo-based company in recent years.
