‘Sims 4’ coming 2014 for PC and Mac, works offline

The Sims 4 is predictably official. Considering that The Sims is one of the most successful gaming franchises of all time, The Sims 4 comes as no surprise at all. Outside of The Sims 4 landing a 2014 release (date unknown), it’ll have an “offline single player experience.” We mention this because Maxis last game, Sim City, had one of the most hateful always-online DRM systems ever conceived by humankind.

Here’s how EA describes it: “The Sims 4 celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever.” Is this deeper connection somehow tied into Sim City, or will players be able to get right inside the mind of these brainless puppets? The blog post from EA continues. “The Sims franchise is fuelled by the passion and creativity of its millions of fans around the world. Their continued devotion to the franchise ignites the fire of creativity of the team at The Sims Studio, driving them to continually improve and innovate on one of the world’s most popular simulation games that has sold more than 150-million copies worldwide.”

Additionally, a VIP briefing was help for “The Sims top fans” where a scant few got to hear from the creative team behind The Sims 4 and as development progresses, the same VIP fans now gain exclusive access to preview content. For those looking for the latest on the Sims 4, we suggest signing up with the official newsletter or following #TheSims4 on Twitter.  The Sims 4 will be released for PC and Mac sometime in 2014.
