While we’re all extremely excited about the upcoming GTA V, the guys from Rockstar Games did a special edition blog post answering some questions that were lingering in the minds of the soon to be Los Santos gangsters. We already know that Grand Theft Auto is the benchmark for open world games. And, like always, Rockstar is pushing the limits. This console game is all so big and grand, you’ll need to install it before playing.

Given the size of the world map and the fact that Rockstar Games have taken advantage of “every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles,” the Xbox 360 edition will be sold as two discs. Where the one will be used as the installation disc onto a dedicated hard drive or USB with a minimum of 8GB of free space. You won’t ever need to switch between discs.
Rockstar say that for the PS3, you’ll only require one disc that will install content as soon as you insert the game. The install is also roughly 8GB, and players will be able to play as soon as the install is complete.
Some information on character switching has also been given. Between the story’s three main characters (those bad-asses in the picture above), you can switch between Michael, Franklin and Trevor in real-time to “drop in and out of their lives letting you see what they’re up to. And because they have their own schedules, you’ll never know what they might be doing–- you might drop in on Michael in the middle of a family dispute, interrupt Franklin chatting up some ladies, or Trevor on the run from the law –- or whatever else these guys do in their free time.”
GTAis well-known for its grand and unique accessories and we’re happy to report that they’re not breaking tradition and will be releasing a double-sided map inside the game box.
Gameplay as well as further multiplayer details are “on their way” apparently and we still have no word for a PC or next-gen console release as of yet. The company is also addressing the worries involving cheating on the expected multiplayer.
GTA V will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 17 September 2013.
