Nokia’s just launched the Lumia 625— a massive screen with a small price. This 4.7-inch will have 4G and goes for US$290 (R2 845). We first caught sight of this fella, lumping around somewhere in China.

Although claiming the title of having the biggest screen yet, this Windows 8 phone probably has the crappiest display ever. The woeful 480 x 800 will put many buyers off the most. According to the Verge, the viewing angles are extremely limited and the contrast levels poor. The 4G modem is pretty decent, though, and will be what most customers will flock to.
“Fun, fast and affordable” is what its tagline suggests. The “fun” probably refers to the variety of easily changeable covers (or shells) you can choose from that ranges from orange, yellow, bright green, white and black. The “fast” refers to the 4G access you’ll be able to get.
Though, as we reported last week, the inside specs include a 5MP camera with LED flash, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of on board storage with expandable memory up to 64GB. What you’ll want to use 72GB for on this phone nobody knows. It also cases a 2 000mAh battery.
The screen does, however, have Nokia’s Super Sensitive touch display which means that you’ll be able to use it with gloves on. It also gets released with Nokia’s new Amber software update that was released with the high-end Lumia 1020 last week.
“With our largest smartphone screen to date, the Nokia Lumia 625 is a perfect example of how Nokia is delivering leading smartphone innovation and experiences at every price point,” said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices.
This fat phone will start rolling out sometime in the coming months and is a clear sign of how strong Nokia plans on staying competitive in emerging markets.
