Logitech K820 wireless keyboard is a slick-looking touch and type gizmo

Logitech likes creating high-end looking devices for people like us who want to scrimp and save every penny. Today, it’s announced the K820, a US$99 (R1 000) wireless keyboard with built-in touchpad. Fewer words, more pictures.

It’s feature time: Note that you’re getting a boat-load of features and a very handsome keyboard/touchpad combo package for US$99. From the pictures alone, we can see that this is going to be a stellar piece of hardware.

First, there’s the touchpad which is designed to be “seamless” with the keyboard. ” Even the angle of the All-in-One keyboard is designed to make typing and swiping better together.” Very considerate. There’s pinch, swipe and zoom features and a large clicking surface, namely the whole touchpad.

The keyboard has some standout features as well. The PerfectStroke typing system keeps the keys practically silent during use and the InCurve keys “match the natural profile of your fingertips”. Sounds like a lot of promises from Logitech, but its previous wireless keyboards we’ve tested have been stellar to type on. This one though, as listed by Logitech, has a 55dBa range for each key. Finally, the K820 has a 6-month long battery life, which sounds right on the money as far as keyboards go.

We’ve left the boring stuff for the end, but it’s stuff we need to know. It weighs only 786g and is 40.9cm in length. The K820 is also spill-resistant. pity it’s not waterproof, Logitech makes some great washable keyboards. Look for Logitech’s K820 wireless touch and type keyboard in the US and Europe in August.
