The GoPhone is an extension of your smartphone and said to be “essential to your GoPro kit”. It’s a nifty iPhone case that acts as a comfortable, grippy handle for your GoPro Camera and allows your phone to become an in-action monitor. The GoPhone wants to better your filming capabilities. This is done by giving you the ability to view and stream content directly to your phone without having to plug in other accessories.
Like an iPhone, GoPro’s are pocket-friendly yet powerful devices, making them fitting gadgets for outdoorsy aspiring cinematographers. Who wants a bulky, fragile video camera if you can have the ultimate GoPro, iPhone combo?
The GoPhone Case has a hump at the bottom where your GoPro Camera slides in. The camera then connects with your iPhone via Wi-Fi and a dedicated app. This allows you to watch, share and stream videos wherever you are.
As shown in the video below, the GoPhone Case underwent some “rigorous field testing” in skate parks. Inventors Andrew Dorn and Carson Tully are hoping to see how and in which other fields their handy invention will be used.
The GoPhone case is compatible with the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. It will be shipped with a bunch of fan merchandise such as stickers and t-shirts. The project is currently raising money on Kickstarter with goal of US$15 000.
