In our opinion, the Xbox 360 is still the preferred Microsoft console for 2014. Dark Souls 2, Castlevania 2 and Destiny are just three of the excellent titles coming this year. So it makes sense to pick up a new controller for the aged Xbox 360 before it’s put out to pasture. Enter Microsoft’s Major Nelson, who’s just announced the availability of the Special Edition Chrome Series Controllers, which dazzle in dragon purple or void black. Here’s what the Major has to say:
Today we are announcing additional colors to the Xbox 360 Special Edition Chrome Series Wireless Controllers: black and purple. The controllers feature a transforming D-pad and colored chrome design for $54.99 USD (MSRP) – available worldwide beginning in March. The black controller will be available in the U.S. exclusively at Walmart and the Microsoft Store and purple controller will be available in the U.S. exclusively at Best Buy and the Microsoft Store.

It’s going to be hard to decide which one to pick up. 2014 truly is the year for the Xbox 360 and with these two controllers, we’re going to feel a whole lot better that we haven’t decide to upgrade yet. If only Microsoft could quickly pump out a chrome Xbox 360 in black or purple to match these beautiful gamepads.
