Samsung’s got an early Valentines Day present for us. It’s launching the Galaxy Tab Pro and Note Pro tablets in the US 13 February, says ReCode. The Pro series are beefed up devices first revealed at this years CES. There’s four models to choose from: Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1 and 8.4. Pricing is fair, and scales from US$400 for the least-expensive model (Tab Pro 8.4) to US$750 for Samsung’s top-of-the-range Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. Even though the tablets are large and well-specced, prices still seem fairly steep what are essentially high-end tablets aimed at the business market these devices have yet to really capture.

With the Galaxy Pro range, Samsung’s looking to dip its toes in the professional market. Features like a 2560×1600 display crammed with 4-million plus pixels should deliver a decent level of clarity for those who want to multitask with the new “enhanced multi window“. Hell, Samsung even says that up to four windows at once can be multi-tasked. That’s productivity overload in our books.
Further corporate-friendly additions to the Pro lineup includes Remote PC access directly from the tablet, a virtual keyboard which is as “intuitive and responsive as the one you’re using at your desktop”, an e-Meeting app (looks like a shared whiteboard) and WebEx which aims to take meetings to that level which we never seem to attain, namely the “next level”. Hopefully with the Pro tablet range, we can attain “Next Level” status and shirk these mortal coils.
All models also feature the S-Pen which has been around since the Galaxy Note II, with Air Command (Galaxy Note Pro only), Action Memo, Scrapbooker, Screen Write, S-Finder and Pen Window.
Let’s see how Samsung’s Pro range fares when it goes up against similarly priced, best for business tablets like Microsoft’s Surface Pro 2 and the iPad when it’s released later this month.
