Fujitsu’s X923 is the all-in-one business PC that’s always turned on

Imagine having a desktop PC you never have to turn off? Of course, many PC’s since the late nineties have had a low-power or “sleep” mode but Fujitsu’s Esprimo X923 range ramps it up a notch says Engadget. By turning off applications when not in use, these 23-inch touchscreen PCs enter LPAM (Low Power Active Mode) and consume close to nil-power. And this still beats traditional sleep modes as Fujitsu’s PC is always accessing the network, even when in LPAM.

Outside of the nifty LPAM mode, the X923 (and the touchscreen X923-T) is a desktop PC that’s made for the office environment, if the specs are anything to go by. We say this because the graphics card is an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400/4600. Everything else is up to scratch: The 23-inch, full HD screen comes with an embedded microphone and (hopefully) full HD camera which will make the promise of instant-on video conferencing a more palatable reality.

Other, more notable hardware specifications include CPU’s of up to 3.6Ghz in speed, a wide array of hard drive options (SSD, SSHD or HDD), 16GB RAM and a “presence sensor” which will presumably activate the video and mic functions when the sensors detect the outline of an all-business human being. Face detection will also allow users to log-into the system. Finally, X923 owners can select between Windows 8.1, 8.1 Pro, Windows 7 32 or 64-bit. Go buy either right now if you’re keen on an infinitely-on desktop machine for business use.
