Slowly, the Xbox One begins to creep up to the sales of Sony’s PS4, which has beaten Microsoft’s console in sales month after month. Xbox recently released its NDP sales figures for February 2014, which includes “record-breaking” sales of 258 000 Xbox One units shifted in the US. It’s a 61% improvement over Xbox 360 sales recorded in the same time period. Despite this, Sony continues to win the sales war, with Wall Street Journal games reporter Ian Sherr tweeting:

Sony confirms NPD report of being top seller in Feb. Not disclosing data (they haven’t shared PlayStation NPD sales data in a long time).

Interestingly, over 114 000 Xbox 360s were sold during its now 100th month on the market. When Titanfall launches for the aged console on March 25, those numbers should be healthier. Interesting sales facts from Xbox are included below:
- Xbox One continues to see impressive software sales with an average of 2.75 games sold per console.
- Xbox One sold 772,000 games in February and Xbox 360 sold 2.46 million, totaling 48 percent of the total software market share (Xbox 360 and Xbox One combined).
- During the month of February, Xbox One and Xbox 360 games in the top 10 title lists were as follows:
- Xbox One held five top titles in the generation eight top 10 console game title list in the US including: “NBA 2K14,” “Battlefield 4,” and “Thief,” “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” and “Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.”
- Xbox 360 held six top titles in the generation seven top 10 console game title list in the US include: “NBA 2K14,” “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” “Fable Anniversary,” “Grand Theft Auto V,” “Minecraft,” “The LEGO Movie Videogame.”
Despite the healthier sales figures, Sherr warns that the gap is closing, and fast.
Oh, and NPD says the PS4 led hardware sales, but only by a narrow margin. Xbox One unit sales were 90% of PS4.
