Enter the lag-killer: Logitech’s G402 Hyperion Fury ‘world’s fastest mouse ever’

The mouse is the computer gamer’s quintessential peripheral. More often than not, a slight lag in response could mean the difference between a record-shattering killstreak or a suicide mission. Enter Logitech’s answer to lag — the G402 Hyperion Fury — the world’s “fastest gaming mouse ever.”

The mouse embodies Logitech’s peripheral’s distinct design language, looking more like a tiny Transformer than a cursor controller. It can track at over 12 metres per second, which for first-person shooter enthusiasts with Spiderman-like reactions, is a goldmine. Logitech lauds the device as a peripheral bar none:

“Its light weight design, combined with the precision and capability of the Fusion Engine, lets you make fast, furious swipes and dominate the battlefield, proving once again that Science Wins!”

The science perhaps, is down to Logitech’s Fusion Engine powered by an on-board 32bit ARM processor. It controls the optical sensor technology dubbed Delta Zero, which features an accelerometer and a gyroscope, to more reliably monitor the mouse’s heading, speed and angle. A one-millisecond refresh rate alongside the adjustable-on-the-fly DPI settings (from 4000 to 240 DPI) allows gamers and, in theory, graphic designers, the ability to accurately trace screen pixels.

As with most peripherals, the mouse can also store multiple settings profiles managed via the companion software.

Although the device is not currently available for purchase, it will be hitting South African shores by Q4 2014. Pricing is also yet to be confirmed.
