During the usual post-September Apple lull, things get a bit stagnant in the world of Apple. Although the iPhone range, the iPad range and the Mac range have all seen some major updates of late, it’s still the Apple Watch spurning the most news.

According to previous reports from Apple’s mouth, the range was slated to begin at a modest US$349 (probably around R4000) for the anodized aluminium option.
If you’re looking for a little more wrist-borne bling, you’ll have to fork out the equivalent of a down payment on a mid-sized saloon, or around four iPhone 6 Plus models. You take your pick.
French Apple-orientated site, iGen, has also announced thanks to its sources, that the stainless steel option will fetch US$150 more than previously believed.
Understandably, the device is causing quite a buzz, thanks to its new take on the smartwatch genre. Included in the arsenal is a tweaked but full version of iOS, a new “digital crown” UI navigation system and build quality akin to a Russian nuclear submarine. It’s quite an exciting prospect.
Although the Watch is slated for international release around the February 2015 time frame, it will probably be seen in South Africa a few months after. Of course, no definitive release date has been set by Apple yet.
