COUGAR MX300 budget mid gaming case launches in South Africa

COUGAR continues to steamroll its way though the South African gaming market with its latest target being the gaming chassis arena. The MX300 is the company’s latest mid budget gaming case that boasts a few great features in a package that costs around R530.

On first glance, there’s no doubt that there’s an emphasis on cooling with the MX300. The front of the case features an intricate pattern of plastic honeycomb and mesh that allows builders to station two 120mm fans up front. The top allows for the same configuration while the side panel also sees room for two 120mm fans. There’s effectively space for seven fans in this thing if including the one at the rear too.

There’s also room inside for a 310mm-long graphics card, so GTX980- and R9 290x-based cards should fit without any real issues. Three tool-less slots for 3.5-inch drives also feature and there’s mounting space for three SSD drives and two optical drives.

Around the back, the case features watercooling grommets that no one seems to use anymore, but nevertheless, it’s still a nice addition. There’s seven expansion slots at the rear too, so SLI or CrossFire is fair game in this case.

Dust filters are a nice addition on a case under R1000.

Other niceties include air filters in all fan openings except the rear, a clear side panel to ogle at your shiny goodies and a front I/O arrangement consisting of a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, a 3.5mm audio out and a 3.5mm audio in.

It’s worth mentioning that the COUGAR MX300 is priced among the likes of the Cooler Master N500 for one, so competition is fierce. But it’s good to see that manufacturers are including a multitude of features on a case for budget-minded gamers.

The COUGAR MX300 is currently available at Rebeltech, Loot and Takealot at the time of writing.
