If you ever wanted to know what managing your own fleet of intergalactic space craft would be like, now’s your chance. A new trailer for Sid Meier’s Starships — a new turn-based game developed by 2K Games and Firaxis Games — has been outed (thanks to the chaps over at GameSpot) and the world’s strategy game lovers are getting excited.
The player commands a gaggle of interstellar ships as the gamer flies to various galaxies to complete various tasks (we image scrubbing floors or sweeping decks isn’t quite in the job description). Essentially, it’s the gamer’s prerogative to build one kickass kingdom, and that’s not all. Packed into the fun bundle includes a range of futuristic weapons that would make Advanced Warfare seem a bit archaic. It also reminds us a bit of an updated Master of Orion. Remember that little gem?

Sid Meier, the legend behind the game and previous titles like Civilisation: Beyond Earth, noted that he wanted to create a universe filled with “interstellar adventure, diplomacy, and exploration,” according to GameSpot.
Its an intriguing concept and one we’re looking forward to. No specific release date has been penned yet but expect the game to feature in the middle to latter quarters of 2015 on the PC, Mac and iPad.
