Windows 10 is maturing nicely and Microsoft is now ready to unveil a preview for handheld devices later this month, according to The Verge’s sources.
The company has outed an app for Windows Phone users dubbed Phone Insider which will allow users to receive the latest build of the Windows 10 OS on their phones. Although the app only works for Microsoft employees at the moment, reports The Verge, the app should be open to Windows Insiders in the near future — much like Windows 10’s desktop Insider Program.

It is believed that Redmond will showcase a few of the OS’s primary features at a press event on 21 January. The company will then allow insiders to preview the OS — believed to be called Windows 10 Mobile — before it is released to the public.
Although there’s a chance Microsoft will be nice and release the OS preview before the event, this probably won’t happen.
Windows 10 as a whole has been developing behind Insiders-only doors for a while now and the Insider Program has undoubtedly given Microsoft some much needed suggestions, tips and polish.
Previously Satya Nadella has noted that Windows 10 will be an OS for all Microsoft platforms in the future, and should find its place on the Xbox One, laptops, desktops, tablets and more importantly in less than two week’s time, phones. It will be interesting to see how the OS morphs between these varying screen size and hardware platforms.
Of course, for now Windows 10 Technical Preview is only available to those who have signed up to the Insider Program, but the OS official should be launched around the midpoint of the year. Expect quite a few leaks and tasty tidbits until then.
