It’s been a wonderful week as far as device launches go in South Africa, and now yet another tech company has given its citizens more good news. Nintendo will bring its new 3DS and 3DS XL handhelds to South Africa on 13 February, keeping in tune with other world markets’ release dates.
The new duo have been something of a hit in their homeland, selling over 1.4-million units since their launch in October 2014.

Both handhelds have been upgraded, and we’ll see some pretty nifty features in the two.
Firstly, the devices have been tweaked, adding Amiibo support (thanks to NFC support), better 3D-head tracking courtesy of a new cameras, beefier processing units and a new set of controls, including a C-stick, and new ZL/ZR buttons.
These are particularly helpful when playing brawlers like Super Smash Bros.

Satoru Shibata, Nintendo Europe’s President, noted his excitement at bringing the consoles to the South African market.
We strongly believe that both systems are set to transform the experience players have on a portable handheld gaming system. Whether players opt for the light, compact and customisable New Nintendo 3DS or prefer the bigger screens of New Nintendo 3DS XL, both systems offer a whole host of new features that both current handheld users and those who are looking to purchase their first Nintendo handheld system are sure to enjoy.
There will be the option of two traditional systems, the 3DS and 3DS XL (obviously), but Nintendo will also bring two limited edition bundles along, including The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D edition and a Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate edition, featuring a cope of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Both look incredible, and both should do particularly well with Nintendo fans.
Unfortunately, no pricing information has been made available by Nintendo South Africa at the time of writing.
