Sony has announced that its new Sony Xperia E4 smartphone is coming to South Africa, bringing “ease-of-use, big screen entertainment and powerful battery performance in a high-quality yet affordable design” with it, according to the presser.
Boasting some high-end features, the phone is gunning for the mid-range, entertainment-crazed buyer. It’s quite a looker too, with the usual Sony design traits and cutesy curved design.

Some more integral specs include a rather large IPS 5.0-inch screen with a 960×540 resolution, a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. It should serve the casual phone user well, and should handle multitasking with ease too.
Other niceties include a 2300mAh battery which Sony claims will allow for a two day battery life, a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper. Sony has made it clear that battery life is a priority on this phone, which should be brilliant if anything like the Xperia Z range.

There will also be a dual SIM version of the phone which should serve the South African market well.
As for the launch date? Sony hasn’t given a definitive calendar number yet, but a date sometime during the second quarter of 2015 looks likely. There’s no word on the device’s price available but “a highly-competitive price point” is mentioned by the company.
