If you’ve perused our review of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7, you would’ve realised that we quite enjoyed the device.
Even if it was enormous in comparison to most devices, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 exhibited the type of usability and practicality we’ve only really seen on tablets twice its size. With that said, it should also be mentioned that its cameras are pretty damn impressive too.

With the device firmly glued to his hand, Andy took the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 on a tour around the Western Cape of South Africa, to see exactly how the snappers perform.
If you ever wanted to tour South Africa, or the rest of the beautiful world for that matter, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 will be one of the best devices to take along. The large screen is especially brilliant for tweaking and correcting images too.

Central Johannesburg. The colour reproduction is fairly average in this image, but it does well to focus through the glass.

Central Johannesburg looking, well, business-y. The camera balances contrasts well.
All-focus
Sunset over Johannesburg. Sunset images should be dispatched with ease.

Sunset from O.R. Tambo International, Johannesburg. Probably the best snap taken with the camera. Even in fading light, there's no real noise noticeable.

Beer House, Cape Town. Fairly bad light is handled with precision.
All-focus
Hibiscus. This is a strange photograph. Taken into the sunlight with minimal light available to the camera, the Huawei could still reproduce the multiple levels of pink in the flowers. Brilliant.

Bright flowers are no match for the camera.

Another shot of the Hibiscus. Note the variation of colours.

Devil's Peak, Cape Town. Natural landscape imagery should also be within the range of this phone.

Devil's Peak, Cape Town. A few images seemed washed out when there was too much light about.

Du Toitskloof Pass, Western Cape. Another image that was taken through a car windscreen. Slightly washed out, but impressive nonetheless.

Another example of the camera's brilliance through glass.

A botterboom's new leaves required some enormous focus and concentration on our part, but the camera snapped it with no sweat.

Light effects are also possible, with the live HDR feature.

Another sunset photograph looking towards the Matroosberg in the Karoo. Note the light balance.

Depth of field is expertly handled by the camera too. It's genuinely made brilliant by the touch-to-focus.

Colour reproduction in low light is ever stellar.

Another example, this time snapping a periwinkle.

Darkened skies are easily snapped with the Huawei Ascend Mate 7, and the large screen makes it an awesome device to tweak photographs.
