Xbox One price drops by R800 in South Africa

Prima Interactive, the prime importer of Microsoft‘s Xbox One console in South Africa, has announced that it will be dropping the price of the console by R800 from tomorrow, 23 July 2015.

“Thursday, 23 July 2015 is D-day. The recommended price on the XboxOne 500G console will drop by R800. Buying the console now also brings with it the promise of access to the world’s best games and the best online gaming experience,” explained Prima CEO Ian Hepplewhite.

The previous RRP stood at R6299 but will subsequently drop to R5499, which now means that Microsoft’s console undercuts the Sony PlayStation 4 by around R300.

Hepplewhite was also swift to point out the console’s upcoming features, including backward compatibility which will allow gamers to play select Xbox 360 games on the console, and the list of exclusives that are due out “before Christmas.” These include Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5: Guardians and Forza Motorsport 6.

The console will be available at “BT Games, CNA, Dion Wired, Game, Toys R US, Takealot.com, Musica, Games4u, and Animeworx.”
