After shoving a 5000mAh battery in its ZenFone Max, it seems that ASUS is getting the hang of cramming its smartphones with bigger and better things.
The latest device in question is a special edition of the ZenFone 2 Deluxe with a quite remarkable trump card: 256GB of internal storage. Eat your heart out, Samsung.

Traditionally, 64GB seemed to be the internal storage ceiling with a few manufacturers dipping its paws into the 128GB splash pool, but we definitely haven’t come close to seeing 256GB yet, and especially not on a mass produced device. Now, ASUS is overtaking its rivals in giving users even more storage to play around with.

ASUSFanaticos, a Brazilian fansite, unveiled the device and noted that it’s particularly “aimed at gamers.” An interesting black and red edition does remind of the Republic Of Gamers sub-brand too.
There’s the usual swathe of other remarkable specification too, with 4GB of RAM and an Intel Atom Z3580 chipset with a 2.5GHz CPU just to brush the surface.
We’re not too sure of the retail price of the device, nor do we know of a concrete release date (we do hope it makes its way to South Africa), but chances are it will be the flagship to beat.
